How do you remove the transmission support bar on a 1979 ford f-150?

i unbolted everything even the transmission. the only thing is i cant get the support bar to drop out from under the tanny

  1. There are probably 2 or 3 bolts on each end of the cross member. They might be covered with mud or other gunk so that you can't see them.  If you've already removed them, Then the cross member may be frozen in place. It is almost 30 years old and has probably never been removed. Try spraying some penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster around the ends of it. Then, give it a couple good whacks with a dead blow hammer. That should break it loose. Be sure to wear safety glasses to keep any dirt and rust out of your eyes and to have the trans supported with a jack so that it doesn't fall on you.
