Does it unscrew anywhere? I have the push button bit out but can't get the rest out. Should the Electriacal conection part just pop off?

  1. Yeah, the black plastic connector stays with the wiring. There is usually a latch to help keep it attached to the switch that you will have to pry back, and they often break when they're that old.

As far as the switch being held in, I don't remember too well. There may be a spring steel retaining clip behind the dash if there's no bezel on the front. Look (or feel) for a tang that is pulled away from the switch.

If it has a bezel, that looks kind of like a nut, but with little notches in it, instead of 6 sides. There are special tools for many of those, or sometimes a long needle-nose pliers will work. Turn counter-clockwise like a nut.

  2. The electrical plug should pull off the back.  It prly hasn't been off in 40 years, so it will be tight.  Isn't there a bezel behing the k**b that has a slot of nothes in it that takes a tool to spin the bezel loose?  Sinilar to the headlight switch, except the headlight switch has a button to get the k**b out.
