How do you remove various set-in stains from carpeting?

The carpet we have isn't the best of quality - it was a quick fix from the previous homeowners. There are multiple stains on the rug though. I have a carpet cleaner, but the stains keep coming back. They are pet, juice, soda, sauce, etc stains. I have 2 young children and a rambuctious pup, so things are always spilling or being knocked over. It's horrible. I have tried Spot Shot, special cleaners, etc and they either don't work or the stains re-appear. Are there any home remedies? I unfortunately cannot afford to rip up the rug right now.

So I need a fix just short of bleaching the entire thing. Any miracle remedies that have worked for people? Thanks in advance.

  1. Bite the bullet and hire a pro, they have different ammo for different stains.

  2. I have gotten many stains out by making a solution of 1/2 cup oxiclean powder and a pint of hot water, When the oxiclean is dissolved I pore it on the stain and press a white towel on top by stepping on it. I let it set there for 1 hour to overnight. When I lift up the towel the stain is nowhere to be found and it doesn't effect the colors. I vacuum when it is completely dry. I've gotten coffee, makeup, juice, urine, hair dry and many more stains out by this.
