How do you rent a house in Canada?

I might be moving to Canada and I've been looking at house rentals in the Vancouver, BC area. I have noticed that nobody posting homes for rent has mentioned anything about first and last months plus deposits, pet deposits or anything like that. In Canada, do they require the same fees that they do in the US?

they usually require first months rent plus a security deposit which is usually the amount of rent. pet deposits vary depending on who you're renting from. if they accept pets, they may or may not charge a deposit, or they may tack on an extra monthly fee.
