How do you repair a broken banjo string?

  1. Rest it and bathe it in saltwater!

    If it's a really bad split then you may need a stitch - how embarrassing!


  2. One does not normally repair banjo strings, one replaces them.

  3. You will have to locate a Banjo String Reweaver. Most large cites have a guild that you can contact to see who is next for an assignment. This might take a month or so. They seemed to be very busy this time of year. Must be getting back to college time. The charge or fee varies from each region. Insure that you ask for a certified Reweaver with at least 5 years experience.

  4. buy a new one, replace.

    Anything else will result in different acoustic properties, so forget about it.
