How do you repair a gas oven which takes a long time to actually light?

When you turn it on and set the temperature it usually takes five to fifteen minutes before the flame actually comes on. The top surface will light instantly but there is a delay waiting for the oven itself to light and then get hot. Once its on though it works fine.

  1. There is a thermostatic probe under there like a long bare wire with a probe on the end of it..when you turn the stove on the psmall pilot light comes on and heats the probe up..then when the probe/sensor gets hot enough it kiccks in a release valve that opens the gas up to flow thru the tubves and ignite...this is going bad on you and not sensing the heat from the pilot correctly..It is actually called an ignition system..here is a detailed link with picture how to repair this..quite simple..a matter of loosening a couple screws..
