  1. if any of the above stuff made any sense what so ever!

You can always call up a local repair guy to ask him to check it out, and have him tell you what to do, or he can show you how to do it, and next time you will know what you are doing!

NEVER mess around with stuff you don't know what you are messing around with! The worst that can happen? You could create damage that could cost you $1,000's to fix!

  2. Most of the time, skylight leaks are around the perimeter of the unit, the 'flashing'.   You can caulk around it with a good silicone caulk, roofing tar, or if on a metal roof, then a special sealant made for metal roofing.

If the unit can be opened, to let fresh air in, then you may have a seal/gasket leak.  You'd have to replace the weather seal.

This isnt terribly difficult to do... and while on the roof with caulk, or roof cement, I'd also go around the flanges of the other items protruding thru the roof, like plumbing stacks/vents, etc.

    Good Luck

  3. Never ever caulk a roundl any thing untill you know why it is leaking.. You question is to vague. Generally it is a flashing problem. systems in the past were bad. You may have to strip it and see where and why it is leaking. then reflash remembering to over flash from you ridge to the sky light and with good flashing. a good roofing co will know what I mean
