I just bought a 2001 Nissan Maxima GXE and the car has a Alpine radio that someone replaced the factory radio with. I would rather the factory radio in my car. Where could I find a factory radio to buy and is it expensive to have it replaced back to the factory radio?

  1. The factory-installed car radio means the radio installed when the car was first built, it is bit costly because they usually cost twice as much as aftermarket radios due to the fact that they fit perfectly and help the car maintain its value. If you want to replace your existing radio with the factory radio then you can use fallowing instruction:

    • Purchase a new factory radio and replace the existing one.

    • Buy a wiring harness and trim brackets if you required.

    • Follow all the instructions, which you received with factory car radio for installation.

    • Now connect the wiring harness if required. One end will be connected to the existing speaker wiring in the car dash and the other end will plug into the back of the new radio. Connect the ground wire and power supply wire as well as the antenna connection if needed.

    • Install the trim brackets if they are needed to securely fit the radio in place. Follow any instructions provided with the radio or bracket kit for installation.

    • Slide the new radio with wiring and brackets attached into the dash. If the proper brackets were used, the radio should fit securely in place. s***w the holding screws back into place.

    • Reattach the negative battery terminal cable and turn the car ignition on to power the radio, you don't need to start the engine. Test the radio to in order to ensure that it is properly working.

    • Replace the car dash trim being sure to attach any plastic clips or screws that were removed earlier.
