How do you replace an eight lb. sledgehammer handle//?

when you get the old one out, you put the new one in by hammering the end of the handle not by banging it on the ground.

Buy a new one. It's faster and about the same price as a replacement handle.

cut the old handle off at the bottom of the  head, drive the remaning part out thru the top,

drive the new handle in with another hammer, cut the top off, drive a wedge into the top part

Pound the other handle out backwards then go to your local hardware store and buy the replacement and pound the new one in with a wedge.Good Luck!
