I am on a budget and was wondering is there is a less expensive coating to put on the old silverware that is silver plated, so you can eat with them. Answers appreciated (I will choose a best answer)

Thanks

  1. I am not understanding your question.  Why can't you eat with them the way they are?

  2. Pure silverwares can be cleaned by rubbing with lime powder and cleaning with some cloth thereafter.

  3. Assuming that you are talking about "real" silverplate and not chromium plating or nickle plating and that you don't want to poision yourself, take your silverware to a jeweler and ask them to re-plate the items. They can mask the undamaged areas and replate only the bad spots. By not replating everything, your costs will be a lot less.

DON'T use anything that comes out of a spray can for foods....ever.
