How do you resize a picture without altering it?

without cutting off anything or stretching it. Need to send emails and pictures are too large.

  1. I do not know what sort of editing tools you have. I am using photoshop, and it is just a matter of changing your compression rate. If you are using Windows XP, you may be able to use movie mode it is an accessory in Windows, to reduce the picture so that you can e-mail it. Most digital cameras have a software program that comes with it, and you can find information there on how to reduce the picture size for emailing it. Check the software that came with the camera. If you are using a scanner lower your resolution this will also reduce the consumption size of the picture, you can email 48k easily enough.

  4. Download and install the freeware IrfanView, it has many useful features, yet is extremely easy to handle. Once it is installed, open your pic with it, go to "image" in the top bar, click "change size", change the DPI (dots per inch) settings to 72, then save your pic as .jpg or .gif. That reduces the size considerably!
