How do you reuse dvd discs afrter recording a show?

We have a dvd recorder/burner we are suppose to be able to reuse the discs(dvd+r rw). We have read the manual but can not seem to figure it out.

DVD-R connot be reused but DVD-RW can be reused. U can use any burning software to erase it and then write on it again using any Burnig software
