I'm experimenting with this rooting technique. I love plants and would like to learn how to do this with evergreens. It says it can be done, but what is the best way to do it?

  1. Hi;  you take cuttings about 3-4" long, then pop it in water then straight into hormone powder or a gel made specifically for rooting cuttings. (available from Bunnings - Australia, In USA it might be Walmart in their gardening section).  Then pop the cutting into a pot (6") filled with a seed raising mix or propagation potting mix.  You can put as many  cuttings as you like in the pot.  Water well. Cover pot with a plastic bag and put pot in a sheltered spot.  Remember to water every couple of days and in about 6 weeks when u carefully tug at a cutting it should have roots.  If not leave it for a bit longer.  Once they are rooted you can put them into a bigger pot and fertilize them.   (I actually use a propagation media to put the cuttings in instead of soil.) but its expensive and not so readily available everywhere.  Goodluck
