  1. I definitely run for fitness and fun at the same time- I like running with a friend- this way we can race or just chat about life- also I love listening to my ipod- that makes it very enjoyable.

  2. As an instructor running should be fun, it should be a part of your day that you look forward too.  If you run alone, its “Me” time, plug your mp3 in and run let the world melt away for the duration of your run.

Also you could consider a run club, where running becomes a social event.  I loved the long runs on Sunday, looking forward to 30 like-minded people hitting the road in a big group.  Chatting about our week, or what movies we have seen.  Before you know it, your run is over and you’re off to the coffee shop.

Make the run more challenging; sign up for a 10K or 5K race in the area and work towards a goal.  So running becomes something more then just “Man I got to go out again and run to stay in shape”.  Believe me nothing is better then getting up on a Sunday Morning for a race with 3000 other folks who are all there for the same reason.  To challenge themselves to improve there time or just get to the finish.  Whatever the reason, you realize that you are not the only one out there running.

  3. Try getting someone to run with you, or play a game with yourself by making goals and seeing if you ca beat them.

  4. i dunno for some people it's fun and some people it's work

for me it became fun after i wasn't forced to do it

now i run all the time

maybe all you need is to realize why your doing this and don't think about calories and cr*p when you run just take in the feeling

if you start hurting, stop stretch, then start again

  5. I run with my team, and we have a lot of fun, usually dodging traffic heheh

but we try to keep it fun...

we run different routes, race each other, argue about whether a crossWALK is actually a crossRUN or not, jump over things while we're running, push each other while we're running, run to a park and go on the swings, yell at each other while we're running, pelt each other with oranges that we find on runs...

generally, running with a group is 10x more fun. :)

  6. Like a lot of folks have said, music is a big help when running. With music on, you could have one of those sunset runs when just the right song comes on and you fall into that happy zone when you don't even feel the strain anymore.

Although I do find that the better shape you're in, the more running becomes fun. When it becomes more of a competitive challenge and less of a chore. I used to dread running and originally did it to lose weight, 5 years later and having run 4 half-marathons, those daily 3 mile runs I look forward to now.

Good luck, in time, all goes well.

  7. I listen to music to make it just a bit more exciting. Overall it's not going to be the funnest thing to do.

  8. What I do to make running fun is:

I run through new neighborhoods and see the new construction and landscape

    I also run with somebody

    I listen to muic

I play tag with someone.  (what you can do to make that more challenging is when you chase each other, you have to do different types of runs.  For example:  High knees, bottom kicks, karoke [spelling?].    Or you have to run to a mailboxand back before you tag!)

  9. I take my hyperactive dog with me.  No kidding.  She runs me.

  10. listen to music or try running somewhere pleasant like a around a lake or a park

also running with a friend is a good idea or if you have a dog take them with you

  11. I run sprints, its never fun. I feel great afterwards though. :P

  12. look at stuff on the way, dont concentrate on the actuall running

    or play tag

or have some one chase you =)
