How do you save a song as mp3 not m3u?

im trying to upload a song for my myspace page. but im saving the song that i want on my computer but it saves as m3u not mp3! i need it to be mp3 for me to be able to upload it. how do i save it as mp3 not m3u?

Does the program that is 'saving' the file support MP3 format???  

In the 'Save As' menu, is there a pull-down text box that lists MP3 as a file format?

If not, then you need a file converter.  Here are some shareware programs to convert M3U to MP3.
