You can try liteCam, I've been using it for few months to record YouTube videos and pretty happy with it. I've tried several programs, and it works the best for recording short (5-20 minutes) streaming videos.

They have 30 days trial as well.

You can go to the temporary files folder on your computer and copy and paste the file into another folder.  You will need to download an FLV player in order to play it, but there are many free ones available for download.

download a program like quicktime to your computer then as video is playing run your curser over the top right hand corner of the vid screen when a window pops up says download you just click and another window pops up and lets you see video downloading to your quicktime folder (for future watching and transfering to disk). this usually only takes half the time of actually watching video so if you know you like it enough to save within first few sec or min it will be saved before you get done watching it.
