refill child's novelty drinks with home made but in the same bottle!

we make our own ice pops!

make home made gifts!

make detailed shopping lists etc etc

my dad used to reuse tea bags, about 3 times some times!!! he told me that when he was little his next door neighbour would hang her tea bags out to dry ready to reuse

  1.

When boiling a kettle only fill to the level you require

Have a shower instead of a bath

Hand-wash a few items (clothes) instead of using the washing

        machine

  2. Well you can stop buying luxury stuff, like toys and just extra things. If you have cable, that costs money, you may want to cut that off. Maybe everyone shouldn't have a cell phone in your family, if you do. Try not to buy such expensive accessories and things you need like clothes, shoes, food. Look in the flyers and et stuff on sale. Well thats what i can think of and actually thats what me and my family did and it helped a lot. I hope this advice helps! :D

  3. We changed our energy supplier, shop about its amazing how much you can save. That helped a lot. We stopped shopping at Tesco's etc as it was just too expensive. We now shop at Aldi and the food is actually a lot nicer. We get our meat from the butchers and fruit and veg from the market, it's loads cheaper, fresher and most of it is organic. If possible we leave the cars at home and get the bus. Started getting our petrol from Morrisons its a bit cheaper and you collect points to save for shopping. We found a pet food 'warehouse' where the cat food is loads cheaper. My designer and topshop wardrobe has been swapped for Primark. I really don't know how people with kids afford everything now, it's so expensive everywhere x x x

  4. Have a "powercut" for one hour each week. Make sure the whole family is in and turn off everything. It's good fun and will reduce your electric bill by quite a lot over the year.

  5. I make my own lunch and take that to work rather than pay £5 per day, just for lunch!! I also don't buy a coffee in the morning any more as it's another £2.

We have 'romantic time' where we use candles for light all around the house and have a take away(I know that's not saving money but we're saving electricity!!). It's really lovely and make a difference to those bills!!!

I make sure I turn all the appliences off at the plug and don't leave anything on standby!!

  6. I have a couple of ideas for saving money that will help.....

When you go shopping, make a list for things that you need. Remember that the isles and checkout areas contain items that are meant to be eye-grabbers. Impulse spending is nearly a plague for me whenever I am in a store and I have to be focused on only spending money on the things that I originally intended to buy.

Do you have a discount food store in your area? My husband and I just started shopping at one and are surprized to find out how much we are saving. Last time we shopped, we filled a shopping cart for 50.00! We were able to find great discounts on household items like Glad brand trash bags and laundry soap.

Another idea is calculating a monthly budget and analyzing the money that is left over after paying the bills. Carefefully sort out what you have into practical categories, like allocating certain amounts for entertainment, dining out, clothing, etc.

    Hope this helps!!

  7. Grow a garden and trade with neighbors or barter.

  8. We try to keep electric lights cut off whenever we don't need them, I keep my 'puter on stand-by when not using it for a few hrs. or less to save on electricity. cut my hot water heater down, try to save on trash bags by filling them completely, and cutting back a small portion on sugar I use to make a pitcher of tea, check tires air regularly to save on gas, just using common sense and not wasting stuff like I use to do.

  9. Well, everybody has given you some goods tips already, but here are some we do: don't buy teabags, buy loose tea (you will need to buy one of those little tea strainers) and the tea actually tastes better.  When shopping look at the 'mark down' section, the stuff usually still has at least a day's shelf life and meat can be put in the freezer.  Another saver is buy washing soda (in the detergent aisle) which is only pennies, put 50gm of washing soda in the washer and reduce detergent by 50gm.  Washes  better too.  Use distilled vinegar for lime scale removal on shower screens, taps etc.again only cost pennies if 'own brand'.  Recycle supermarket plastic bags for the kitchen bin (I expect you already do that).  Use the backs of letters, envelopes etc. for scrap pads by the 'phone and for writing shopping lists.  Hope this helps.
