The little street food stands are called xiao che dian 小吃店

The meat on a stick is called chuan   The chararcter is pretty self explantory on that one 串

If you are going to be in China, my biggest recommendation is to try all the food. There is such an amazing variety, especially if you can get out of the big cities.  Oh, and stay away from the stinky tofu, it smells like a garbage dump and tastes pretty close to one.  Ã¨Â‡Â­Ã¨Â±Â†Ã¨Â…

by the way never try  'meat on a stick' its insanitary.even many Chinese never eat such things.

like the guy above said....but you might as well try the seafood hotpot also because the oysters are as big as your hand and cheaper than cheap vodka.
