How do you say excreta in hindi?

I am going to india for my matric exam next year, and I dont really know much hindi, I know enough hindi to watch bollywood movies, but not news reports.

so I always use the word tatti for excreta, but my mom says that it is too impolite, so what word should I use instead that is more polite than tatti. Because I dont want to make a fool of myself if I go there.
