There's no definite tagalog translation for 'hi'.. It can mean 'mabuhay' but you don't exactly say 'mabuhay' when meeting a friend, do you? 'Hi' is more an informal greeting... something you would say to a companion, a friend or a stranger down the street. The closest tagalog term would be 'musta?' or 'kumusta?' though it really means 'how are you?' in english. Still, the overall essence of the greeting is the same
