I have seriously not heard of anyone saying "baby" to their lovers in japan (with the exception of wanna-be-american guys, and anime/comic book characters). "Honey" or "Darling" would be ok, i guess.

But it would be more common to say their names (or nicknames).

There is no such word as "omoi mono"... unless you want to say "Heavy things" are so cute ... lol.

OK the word "思い者" does exist, but you'll only see it used in old japanese literature or poems ... you won't use it in everyday world let alone use it to call your love (unless you're like a 150 year old person) lol. Seriously no one uses it in this day of age so if you use it in a sentence, people will assume you're saying something heavy is so cute =P ... Or even worse they can think you're saying "someone heavy is so cute" (in a kind of a s****. way because you don't really refer to people as者=Mono any more. Usually it's 人=Hito). Haha just telling you to save you from embarrassment (or worse) when you get yourself a japanese girlfriend/boyfriend =P

If you want to say something equivalent to a "sweetheart", you can say "anata" = あなた if you're a girl, or "omae"＝おまえ if you're a guy .

i.e.

Anata ha kawaii OR Omae ha kawaii

Anata ga daisuki OR Omae ga daisuki

Anata wo aishiteru OR Omae wo aishiteru

wo is pronounced the same as "o".

It's not "wa" like Q～★ has used because if you use "wa" it would mean "sweatheart" (not you) is loving something.

And ... although this is not relevant to this question (sorry Bellaona) since it's asked, 3 forms of Atsui = 厚い(thick), 暑い hot (for weather), 熱い hot (for objects)

1) Omoimono wa Kawaii ne (Sounds more girly with "ne")

you can also use the other words above that I had wrote for you

eg. "Haa-nee wa Kawaii ne~" (Honey, you're so cute)

2) Baby I love you

"Bei-bii wa daisuki ne~ (pronounced "Suki" like English word "Ski". Daisuki can be "I love you" and also "I like very much..."

It can be "Bei-bee wa Aishiteru ne~" (Ai means love. Shite iru is a verb saying "To" and "ing". Not sure, I know how to use it, but seems really bad in explaining it in detail... sorry.)

@ Empirio Alma: 思い者 << Please see this Kanji. As you mentioned that you're Japanese, you must've know that Japanese has a lot of same sounds words but "different Kanjis". For example "Atsui" has 3 meanings eventhough they sound the same. Don't you know that? or are you a fake Japanese or an American Japanese? LOL back to ya!
