  1. Aida gave you the most correct answer: "ti/vi amo" (ti is singular, vi is plural) is used between husband and wife, girlfriend and boyfriend, etc.

    "ti/vi voglio bene" is used for members of family, friends, relatives, etc.

    "amare" can also be used talking about a community (the family, for instance), a city, a nation, etc.

    "Amo il mio Paese" = "I love my Country"

    "Amo la mia famiglia" = "I love my family"

    "Voglio bene a mio fratello" = "I love my brother"

    "Amo mio marito" = "I love my husband"
