How do you say "backpacking" in Spanish?

I have to write "I like to go backpacking." So far, I've got:

Me gusta ir ___________________.

to people who goes backpacking we call "mochilero". The Backpack is a mochila.

I´d say something like "Me gusta viajar de mochilero"

You're not going to like this but it is 'hacer el backpacking' !!

I've also heard 'hacer Catalunya en mochilla' which is at least not Spanglish.

  

'excursionismo' is just 'hiking' in English. I've been threatened with it a few times!

A back pack is called a mochila (moe-chee-ya).
