If the serving team hits it over the net and the opposite team misses it and it hits the ground, does the serving team score a point?

What if the serving team hits the ball over the net and then the opposite team does, but the serving team fails to hit it back over the net, does the opposite team score a point?

  1. It's pretty much whoever lets it hit the floor let's the other team have a point, it doesn't really matter who serves it as long as it gets over the net.

  2. Yes in both cases. It is called rally scoring. First case one point for the serving team, second case one point for the receiving team and the receiving team will serve the next.

In the old days only the team that served the ball would be able to score, which could turn one game into a 20-hr event (a little exaggerate), so that the FIVB and other committees decided to switch to rally scoring which would make games more manageable.

  3. Let's make it simple, wherever the ball falls into which side of the court, the other side get  a point.

Also if one side fails to get the ball over within 4 touches, the other side gets a point. Holding a ball for more than one second and be counted as holding or lifting and the opposing side will get a point.

If a player touches the net,the opponent also scores a point.

If a player touches a ball in mid flight and the ball goes out,the opponent also gains a point, this is also counted in blocking.

Swearing or beating up the referee also gives the opponent a point and also gives you a one way ticket to the bench. (:

  4. In the old style of scoring you could only score a point when your team is serving but almost all volleyball games now are scored using the rally point system meaning whichever team misses or hits out the other team gets a point regardless of who served.

  5. yes. in the first one the serving team will score, in the second scenario the serving team gets sored on

  6. both questions are yes the only way for one team to get a point is when the other team messes up

Ans>> If the opposite team misses it and the ball hits inside the court, the serving team will get a point. But if the ball hits the ground outside the court, the opposite team will get the point instead of serving team.

Q>>What if the serving team hits the ball over the net and then the opposite team does, but the serving team fails to hit it back over the net, does the opposite team score a point?

Ans>>Yes, the opposite team score a point for that.
