  1. Grease with oil, rub the oil in with a cloth, then bake for 1hr. in a hot 350degree oven. This also work for cast-iron frying pans too.

  2. When it is still hot, give it a good scrubbing with your scrub brush and allow it to dry, as soon as it is dry but still warm, rub some vegetable shortening or lard all over it using a paper towel. Allow it to sit till you are ready to use it. Never use liquid oils as they go rancid when exposed to air and they will also make your cast iron sticky. I do this for my cast iron pans as well I do not season them in the oven as it heats up and stinks up the house.

  3. here is a nice web site to tell how its done.  cast iron cooking is great fun.

  4. 1. Preheat your oven to 275ºF.

    2. Wash and dry the grill and burners.

    3. Cover them completely with a light to moderate coating of vegetable oil.

    4. Place in the oven for thirty minutes.

    5. Remove and let cool, then reinstall on your grill

  5. oooooH! an easy one!!!

Coat it with oil, regular is fine.  Put it in a 200* oven for several hours.  If it has rust, scrub the rust out first before you do this.  Never wash your cast iron in the dish washer.  Only with hot water, soap if necessary.  Once a month, add oil it and let them sit on low temp until the oil gets smokey.  Turn off the heat and wipe off the excess oil.  You do the same with skillets and suchs.  I love cast iron.
