How do you secure a register boot to the ceiling? How would you attach the register grate?

Was looking at them at home depot and can't see how they would attach opr how a grate would attach to the boot afterwards.

I assume you are talking about air condition registers.  If so, they are just screwed into the drywall and framing around the hole for the duct work.
