How do you secure a wooden character to the roof of a building?

i kinda need to figure this out, and even though i was on stage crew last year, i've got absolutely no idea what i'm doing. any advice would be GREAT!!

  1. Need more info to answer question, what kind of roof, size and weight of character, are you standing it up are or you attaching it to the side of a building.
