How do you send a ringtone to a Samsung Snap by email ?

I have a Samsung U340 (Snap) and would like to put ringtones on it. I have tried to use email to send the ringtone but it never works. I will receive a message but it only lookes like this <<filename.mp3>> . I would like to know if i am sending it wrong.
