Okay so my grade is doing service projects and my friend and I have to come up with 7 because we're the service chairmen. But One that we both want to do is make care packages for a local shelter. How would we do tht? Do you just drop them off randomly or something. could someone PLEASE fill us in on how we'd do this? THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  1. I tend to look for thrift shops or organizations that support women's shelters.  I donate furniture and other items that can be used to set up a home from scratch.    I would call the shelters and ask them what they need.  Typically it is hygiene products that are most needed.

  2. Find the group you want to help and call them.  I'm sure they would be happy to tell you how they handle this and will be very helpful and appreciative.  They might even be able to help you ways to make your project easier.  Good luck.

  3. The government should take care of people.

  4. Get the address and send them a check made out to that organization. Or call THEM and ask what the best way is.

  5. Care packages--just call the shelter director and let them know that you want to drop off care packages as a service project.  They will undoubtedly be very appreciative.

  6. Go to a homeless shelter... the experience would do you good and you have a better indication where it is going.

  7. If you're from a town or city, affected by cold winters, best that you find out where the homeless people gather on a very cold night and distribute blankets, coats, food to them. In this way, you can be sure that the most desperate does get help.

You don't even have to carry the goodies to them.  They will follow you to your vehicle to help you unload them.

  8. It's unfortunate that you're interest in this problem stems from a school project, but your interest is nonetheless appreciated. I think that actually going to the shelter and volunteering is a much better idea than just packing some stuff for them or sending a check. It will teach you a much better lesson, that in life, not everything is helped by opening a box or depositing a check.
