How do you set up a WiFi connection at your own home?

What products/items are needed? Do you have to have a wireless connection before you can have WiFi? Etc?

2.) Wireless adapter ( if your laptop or computer doesn't have)

make sure you go in to your router to set password so people don't steal your connection
