How do you set up a digital camera with the usb port to upload pics?

My awesome fiance just bought me a Kodak Easy Share Digital Camera today and it comes with a USB cable.

The manual says to connect it to the camera and your port, which i did, but the program (cd) that came with the camera says there is no internet connection detected. How can I do this? Do I need a dock? In the program it asks for a port and a web address. I have an old version of Windows XP and an old pc.

Any advice would be appreciated!!!!

  1. u need an internet connection then

  2. Skip the Kodak program cd and just use Windows explorer to upload your photos onto your hard drive. Plug your camera into the PC via USB and it will be treated like a storage device. Open the folders that come up and select the photos and copy them to the folder of your choice. Doing this also keeps your photos numbered in sequence, rather than starting with "1" everytime you upload with camera programs. I have had several different brands of digital cameras and I always just used Window Picture and Fax viewer -- I teach all of my friends to do their photos that way, too!

Also, it is a good idea to just buy a card reader for your memory card and skip the camera in the middle. It saves wear and tear and battery life on your camera, too. If you get a multicard reader, you can help out your friends, too, by being able to download from any of their cameras.  This is nice, too, because you don't always have to have your camera long to view pictures on a computer.
