Question:

How do you set up a digital-to-analog converter box for use with Comcast digital cable?

I recently picked up one of the coupon digital-to-analog converter boxes for my television set. I have Comcast cable but my tv does not have a tuner and I have been renting their digital box. I figured I would take advantage of the coupon deal and buy a box to no longer have to rent one. I do not need all the bells and whistles of their box just something that has a tuner to receive a signal and send that to my tv via RCA cables. The box hasn't found any channels when it scans for them. It is the Digital Stream DTX 9900. Does anybody know how I have to set it up for it to work? Do I need Comcast to come out or is there anything I can do myself. Thanks.

  1. you need to have an antenna plugged in and if u have cable u dont need a tv converter box. also u wont get the same channels u have on cable when u use the converter box, yes i explained alot cause ur question is confusing

  2. The converter boxes that are eligible for the government coupon are for Over The Air use only; they do not work on cable.  Over the Air and cable use different systems.

If you want, you can connect an antenna to the converter box and watch Over The Air digital broadcasts, though.
