  1. Well, I have played almost 4 years with 5 and i offense. The easy way to set up 5 and 1 offence is to have your setter start in position one and try to have someone who sets pretty well in position four there for you have another setter if the real setter hit's the first ball over the net. Position one is setter, position two is your left hand hitter position 3 is your MH position 4 is ur OH/S postion 5 is ur OH and position six is ur MH

  2. Good start to the question above me.  Rotation 1 is also when the setter is the serve postion.  Rotation 2 should have an outside hitter in serve postion.  R3 a middle, R4 the opposite, R5 other outside and R6 a middle.

Depending on how many passers you have in your serve recieve you can make it easier for the setter to get to the possition you want them.  But it is more important to have the best passers recieve than it is to have the setter close to the spot (the court isn't that big...the setter will get there).

  3. after reading some of the previous responses you might be in trouble, here is the best way to set up a 5-1 offesne:

your setter should always be your 1st server, if your serving the setter begings in the server's spot if your not serving then they start front right.

You should have your #1 power follow your setter in the rotation, if your serving this means front right, if your receiving serve then it means front middle.

Your 2nd best middle should come next, as they will be in a line up with 2 other hitters for most of the game..

then your opposite player, who is usually a lefty, or your second pair of hands.

    here is a mini diagram:

    Middle #2                    Power #1             Setter

    Opposite                    Power #2             Middle #1

this rotation allows for your powers to pass the ball every rotation,

and it allows your #1 middle to assist your setter in blocking the other teams #1 power, it also balances your team out and makes each rotation = as strong as the others.

If you ever need any help or if you want a more detailed version of how and why you shoulddo this blast me an email at generations sports club @ yahoo.com and I will provide you a more in depth response....

    Good luck to you.

  4. 5 and 1 means that you have 5 hitters and one setter that sets the whole way around the court.

When the setter is in the backrow, they come up to the front and stand behind one of the hitters in the front row for serve-receive and one of the hitters drop back to pass the ball.

The setter always has to play defense first, so when they are in the back row they stay there until they have to release to the front row when one of their teammates passes the ball to the setter's position.

If the setter passes the first ball, then the back-up setter in the right side hitter's position sets the ball to the hitters.
