I have a 12 gallon Shop Vac and I cant find the manual. Online on Shop Vac I wasnt able to find the shop vac manual either. I looked for step by step instructions and am not finding any.

I know I have to turn the hose part around (if I recall correctly) but I dont know what else. My water heater broke and there is an inch of water in my basement I have to pick up.

  1. I feel kind of silly, I forgot also, I think it's just do it.........dry out the filter when done...........suck it up boss.

  2. take the filter out

  3. just remove the filter and use it as a normal vac you dont need to switch around any hoses

  4. Can't imagine why you'd have to turn the hose around, but I do know you have to take the paper filter off the cage under the motor, the moisture will ruin it.  If you have a model that uses paper bags, take it out also.  Other than that you should be ready for action.  Pay attention to the sound of the motor, as it will start to wind up faster when the tank gets full.  If you have doubts, there should be an 800 number for Shop Vac at information or maybe at yellowbook.com.  They've changed their authorized repair station program in the last couple years.  They now want everything shipped directly to them for repairs.  So I'd guess that means they want all the questions too.    good luck
