  1. Go to the Wireless Security Settings and set a wireless key. There should be 5 or more choices to make, but the best and easiest type of protection is using WPA2 key with AES. Just type in phrase with a combination of letters and numbers and save it. The next time you connect to the router, it would ask for a network key and your network will be protected.

  2. Type in your address bar

    192.168.1.1

Find the wireless tab or section, and click on wireless protection. I think

    or just do this

  3. If you want to make your network secure, type 192.168.1.1 in your address bar, then go to wireless settings, set protection to WPA2 with AES, set the key, change your SSID to something only you will remember, turn off SSID broadcasting, and turn on MAC Filtering. NOTE: to add a device to the network, find it's MAC address (for simple devices it should be listed somewhere, on computers open command prompt as an administrator and type "ipconfig/all" without the quotes, and find the connection device) and add it to your allowed MAC address list. Then you must go to start->connect to-> manually connect to a network, there you must enter your set SSID, as well as WPA key and passcode, save your settings, and you should be set.

  4. Here is a complete guide with diagrams

you enter the control panel in your browser a numbered address

you get into the control panel

check for wireless - security or advanced

turn on encryption - easiest is wep 64 , more secure is wpa

you generate a code through a phrase code generator

number one of the four is used by default

you enter that code in windows ( write it down) twice to log on to your wireless
