How do you sew buttons onto a pillow?

Question

i just bought a pillow and i want to sew buttons on it.

i don't want to cut the pillow open or anything....just sew the buttons on it.

do you want to sew through the pillow with buttons on each side or just on one side? not enough information

Look to see if it has a zipper -- if so, remove the zippered cover and sew the buttons on.

If not, decide whether you want to sew the buttons on through all the padding -- much like button tufted upholstery (you'll need the needle for this), or if you just want to sew the buttons to the cover.  For the second,

I'd use a small curved needle to make a stitch into the cover fabric, then through the button, then another stitch through the fabric and through the button, then tie off the two thread ends.  Add a drop of Fray Block to the knot if you're  not sure of your knot tying skills.

Hand sew it with a needle and thread. It will take some practice to learn to blind stitch the buttons, but it can be done. Most of it is done by feel.
