  1. ask your teacher. and use dental floss. its stronger and lasts londer. you are more likely to break thread on pointe shoes because you have to pull so tight to get them on. and use the non-flavoured kind. less gunk on the floss

  2. you should ask ur teacher because some times they want 1 pice of elastic and sometimes 2

  3. Congratulations on your first pair of pointe shoes!!

It all depends on the fit of the shoe.  The ribbons and elastics are meant to keep the heel of the shoe on when doing demi-pointe.  The most common technique is to bend the heel of the shoe into the center of the shoe, sew the elastics at those points where the heel ends, and then sew the ribbon behind it.  You can also sew everything custom to your foot by putting the shoe on with your toe pads, and marking where you want the elastics and ribbons.  Personally, I like to sew the elastic just under those round bones that poke out from either side of your ankles.  Then I sew the ribbons behind them.  Make sure you angle the elastics and ribbons slightly towards the front of the shoe (at about a 45 degree angle or less - whatever you like).  This will help with the fit of the elastic in general.

Some people sew their shoes with floss or fishing line.  I really haven't noticed a difference using them, but I wear out my shoes so fast that the ribbons don't get a chance to come off.  :-)  Since you're just beginning pointe, I'd recommend sewing with the traditional thread because (A) sewing with floss or fishing line can get tricky and frustrating and (B) you probably won't be doing many steps that would tear off the ribbons or elastics.  Just make sure you sew them on with more than one row of stitches - 2 or 3 rows keeps them on securely.

    Good luck and happy dancing!

  4. sew your elastics on by putting your shoes on and marking (with a pin or something) where your ankles are. Sew the elastic on facing the block with a running stitch across the band at the top or through only the lining on the inside. Sew the ribbons by tilting them the other way and sewing around the sides of the ribbon for stability. Have fun en pointe!

  5. u just kinda sew it on...

  6. go to http://youtube.com/watch?v=feCNkoAUbe4

that will give you a step by step guide

good luck! sewing pointe shoes takes a long time your first time and you need to make sure to be careful. :]

  7. Sew the ribbons or elastics into the side seams of the pointe shoes. If they're elastics cross them over eachother to give more support. It's kind of hard to explain! Just find the side seems and sew into them!

  8. the elastic goes from the heel or like a ballet shoe and the ribbons are sewn toward you but u should ask ur teacher/instructor cuz in every school its different
