  1. I have 2 hedge trimmers...one is electric, one is gas. 3 chain saws and other manual limbing tools. I used to use hand files to sharpen these tools until I discovered Dremel rotary tools, and the plethera of sharpening stones they furnish for their rotary tools. If you carefully take the blades off the hedge trimmer you can sharpen these blades in a vice with a Dremel rotary tool. Use a slow rpm so as not to get the metal hot which can compromise the temper. If you can't afford a Dremel..then go to Harbor Freight Tools and buy their cheap rotary tool for about 25 bucks. You can also sharpen your chain saw blades right on the machine without taking it off the knife. Just be sure to use the correct stone...and angle when sharpening the teeth. Read your manual. Usually small chain saws use a 5/32" stone, and the larger chain saws with take 7/32" stone. Get the stones at Lowes...Don't waste your life away sharpening these tools with hand files...
    Good luck ...Jerry in California
