How do you shrink pants?

My Dad recently went to the store with me to get some new school cloths. I go to a private school so I had to go to a special uniform store and everything. Every year I get pants and every year the style changes and I have to find my size.

This year I tried on two pants a size 9 and a size 11. I liked the size 9 it showed off all my curves and was a nice fit but of course my spoiler of fun father insisted that they were to small and opted for the 11's instead. I tried them on again today and can't believe how baggy they are! At least the 9's fit well and when I wore my belt (required by dress code rules) There were all sorts of wrinkles in it because the waist isn't snug! Ok I'm venting now but that's they issue. I was thinking though . . . what if I shrink them? That would certainly help!

How do you shrink pants though? Especially black Dickie's school pants?

  1. you can put them in the dryer for like 30 minutes or wash them in warm water

edit* also, if you plan on putting them in the dryer, they will get really soft and may rip easily or get worn down a lot more.

  2. Well, the problem with trying to shrink them is that you can't just shrink the waist. So if the legs are a decent length, you'll end up with highwaters, especially if you accidentally shrink them too much. That's the other thing... you can't control how much it shrinks.

Perhaps you can show your dad how baggy they are, and tell him how that's not proper for a private school. I'm sure he'd rather your pants stayed up. Then ask if you can get them tailored to fit better.

  3. Washing them in warm water will shrink them slightly but hot water will make a bigger change in size. Sometimes too much of a change.

  4. Dickie pants are usually easy to shrink, basically put them in a dryer for no particular reason.

But if you must have an excuse, pretend to spill something on your pants. And put them in the wash, and then the dryer. Which will help shrink the pants greatly=]

    Or gain weight. Lol, jk.

  5. Wash them in hot water and dry in on high temperature for at least thirty minutes.  That's how i always shrink mine and shirts too.

  6. you rinse them with water and put them in the dryer and that should shrink them. the more you do it the more they will shrink. do it until they shrink to the size you like :)

  7. Put them in the dryer. If it doesn't shrink them enough you can wash them in warm or hot water.
