How do you sign your check over to somebody else??

  1. On the lines on the back of the check, just write "Pay to the order of ____________  (person's name ) . Then you endorse it. Make sure you leave enough room on lines for the other person to sign also.

    You shouldn't need an ID unless it's a government check.


  2. On the back side of the check write:

    PAY TO THE ORDER OF ... (name), followed by your signature and some kind of ID-number.

    That should do the trick. You will not have to accompany the person to the bank, of course.

  3. I agree with the previous post.  The problem is banks hate to cash these "third party" checks.

    The best way is to go the bank with the person who you're signing it over to or deposit it through the atm.  

    If you have a bank, go there.  If not, go to the bank the check is written on.  If you both have id's they should cash it.
