    a. 36 = 6

    b. 8 = 2 square root 2

    c. 72 = 6 square root 2

    2. -5 square root 3

    --> They have the same square root so you just evaluate them. Think of the square root as the denominator of a fraction in the sense that if they are the same, you can evaluate them but still maintaining the value of the denominator in the end. Unlike fractions, though, you can't find the LCM or GCF. If they have different square roots, you can't simplify them anymore.
