I'm finding the distance from points (-4, 3) and (5, -1) and the distance between them is the square root of 97.

But how do i simplify that, if i make it 9 square root of 16, how do i simplify that further? or is that wrong altogether?

  1. You cannot simplify √(97).

If you had 9√(16), that would simplify to 9*4 or 36, as 16 can be factored into two perfect squares.

  2. you cant simplify it.

simply you cant write is as a product of two number such that you know the square root of one of them

    you cant write it as a product of: 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 64 etc.

    cheers,
