How do you skimboard in deep water on a lake like knee deep i cant run fast because the water slowes me down?

I'm a skimboarder and have been in a few contests, I'v done some inland skim contests and a lot of ocean wave contests. I have a zap comp board, and it can go well over deep water, but there i no way you can start out running in knee deep water and expect to get a good ride on it. If you have a wood board you arent goin to go anywhere. youll just sink. the water is too deep to run in. Find a lower inland skim spot with water about ancle deep. Really though you want to get to a beach, there really isnt any better place to skimboard than a beach. You'll get the longest rides and the best waves and if you flatland your rides will be extremely smooth and long. Honestly wherever you are skimming now id just quit at the spot and find a new one cuz you wont be able to skim there at all. Find a new spot with lower water or a beach.
