  1. well, first u calculate delta"D"

    D=(-6)^2-4x(-7)x1=36+28=64=8^2

    then, X1=[ -(-6)+8]/2x1=14/2=7

            X2=[ -(-6)-8]/2x1=-2/2=-1

    then X^2-6X-7=(X-7)(X+1)

  2. (x=7, -1

  3. x^2 - 6x - 7 = 0

    (x-7)(x+1)

    So x = 7; x = -1

    7^2 - (6)(7) - 7 = 0

    49 - 42 - 7 = 0

    0 =0

    (-1)^2 - (6)(-1) - 7

    1 + 6 - 7 = 0

    0 = 0

    So, they check.

  4. x^2-6x-7=0

    a=1  b= -6  c=-7

    6 (+/-) √36-4*1*(-7)

    ---------------------------

            2*1

    6(+/-) √64

    --------------

          2

    6(+/-)8

    ----------

         2

    6+8

    -----    =7

      2

    OR

    6-8

    -----  =  -1

    2

  5. (x+1)(x-7)=0

    x+1=0   x-7=0

    x=-1      x=7

  6. 1. x^2-6x-7=0

    x^2-7x+x-7=0

    x(x-7)+1(x-7)=0

    (x-7)(x+1)=0

    x-7=0 or x+1=0

    x=7 or x=-1

    2. 6x^2-x-2=0

    6x^2-4x+3x-2=0

    2x(3x-2)+1(3x-2)=0

    (3x-2)(2x+1)=0

    3x-2=0 or 2x+1=0

    3x=2 or 2x=-1

    x=2/3 or x=-1/2

  7. factor it to

    (X-7) (X+1)

    X=7 X= -1
