1. Solve for x.

15x + 6 = 10x + 21

2. 13x + 7 = 5x - 20

3. 16x - 5 = 18x - 2

4. 7x - 3/8 = 6x - 5/8

  1. youve got to take the x to the other side etc.

    cant really explain it.

    so you take the 6 over the equals sign and it will change to anegative because of this. Next take the 10x to where the 15 x.

    it will look like this

    15x - 10x = 21 - 6

    5x=15

    and then you simplify it

    it will then be x = 3

    see if you can do the other ones..:)

  2. Question 1

    5x = 15

    x = 3

    Question 2

    8x = - 27

    x = - 27 / 8

    Question 3

    - 3 = 2x

    x = - 3 / 2

    Question 4

    x = - 2 / 8

    x = - 1 / 4

  3. 1. x=3

    2. x=-27/8

    3. x=-3/2

    4. x= 5/3

    it is a trick question

  4. 15x +6=10x+21

    15x-10x=21-6

    5x=15

    x=3

    2. 13x+7=5x-20

    13x-5x=-20-7

    8x=-27

    x= -27/8

    3.16x-5=18x-2

    16x-18x=-2+5

    -2x=3

    x= -3/2

    4.7x-3/8=6x-5/8

    56x-3            48x-5

    ---------  =         -----------

    8                        8

    56x-3=48x-5

    56x-48x=-5+3

    8x=-2

    x=-2/8=-1/4

  5. 1)X=5

    2)X=-27/8

    3)X=-3/2

    4)X=-1/4

  6. You "move" all the X terms to one side of equation and all the "non-X" terms to the other.

    Step 1.  Move the add/subtract X & non-X terms

    Step 2.  Combine X terms

    Step 3.  Move multiply & divide terms

    Rule.  You must do same math operation to both sides of an equation.

    example:   10x +7 = 17 - 3x

    subtract 7 from both sides:    10x      =      10 - 3x

    add 3 x to both sides:   10x + 3x   = 10

    combine 13x = 10

    divide both sides by 13:  x = 10/13

  7. 1 . 15x-10x=21-6

    5x=15

    x=3

    2. 13x-5x=-20-7

    8x=27

    x= 27/8

    3. -5+2=18x-16x

    -3=2x

    x=-(3/2)

    4. 7x-6x=-(5/8)+(3/8)

    x= -2/8 or -1/4

  8. 1. 15x + 6 = 10x + 21

    subtract 10x and 6 from each side

    5x = 15

    divide by 5

    x = 5

    2. x = -27/8

    3. x = -3/2

    4. x = 1/4

    you better gimmie 10 points for doin your homework

  9.   1. 15x-10x =21-6

              5x = 15   or       x =15/5 =3

      2.13x-5x =-20-7

             9x =-27  or        x = -27/9 = -3

      3.16x -18x = -2+5

              -2x = 3    or      x = -3/2 = -1.5

      4.7x -6x = -5/8 +3/8

             x =-2/8 = -0.25

  10. Just rearrange, by placing all the terms with x on one side, and all the non-x terms on the other. Then just divide to get x by itself.

    The answers are:

    1. 5x = 15

    therefore x = 3

    2. 8x = -27

    therefore x = -27/8

    3. 2x = -3

    therefore x = -3/2

    4. x = -1
