  1. This isn't an equation, it's an expression, and all you can do is simplify....

    Multiply out the square using the FOIL method (First, Outside, Inside, Last)

    (x+1)(x+1)

    x^2 + x + x + 1

    (x^2 + 2x + 1)

    So now you have

    pi(x^2 + 2x + 1)

    or

    pi*x^2 + 2pi*x + pi
