(15 – n) + (12 – n) = 13

n = ?

I got it wrong, but I don't know how to solve it, I know what the answer is, I just don't know how to get it, thanks.

  1. (15-n)+(12-n)=13

    Transpose the numbers to the correct side.

    -n-n= -15-12+13

    -2n= -27+13

    -2n= -14

    -2n/-2= -14/-2

    n=7

  2. n=7

    (15-7)+(12-7)=13

       8   +     5 =13

  3. first of gather the like terms on left side:

    27 - 2n = 13

    now you can make any change as long as you do it to both sides.

    lets take away 13 from both sides:

    14 - 2n = 0

    now add 2n to both sides

    14 = 2n

    now divide both sides by 2

    7 = n

    so the answer is n=7

  4. n=7?

    (27) + (-2n) = 13

    -2n= 13 - 27

    -2n=-14

    -n=-14/2

    n=7

    LOL...

  5. (15 - n) + (12- n) = 13

    15 - n + 12 - n = 13

    -2n + 27 = 13

    -2n = 13 - 27

    -2n = -14

    n = -14/-2

    n = 7

  6. what I would do is take 15 and 12 and add them together. that equals 27. take 13 from that answer to get 14. n is used twice so cut 14 is half to get 7.

    n=7.

    if that doesn't make sense, a lot of people just use the trial and error method.

  7. 7

  8. 15 + 12 = 27

    27 - 13 = 14

    14 / 2 = 7

    n = 7

  9. the point of this equation is to solve n.

    so first you do.

    take out the parenthesis so its easier

    15 – n + 12 – n = 13

    .find the like terms and add them.

    (-n-n) + (15 +12)=13

    now u have this

    -2n +27= 13

    move over 27 to the other side

    then u have

    -2n= -14

    so divide both sides by -2

    and n= 7

    check your answer.plug in 7 in n and check if u get 13.

  10. 15 - n + 12 - n = 13

    27 - 2n = 13

    -2n = -14

    n = 7

  11. n=7 (15-7)+(12-7)=13

  12. 15 - n + 12 - n = 13

    27 - 2n  = 13

    - 2n = - 14

    n = -14/ -2

    n = 7

    ^__^

    just take the steps slowly

  13. n=1 then just answer and add

  14. First you have to do the parenthesis first in any problem and just remember that whatever you do to one side you must also do to the other side. You also have to get n all by itself to solve the problem.. so :

    (15-n) + (12-n) = 13 Since both parenthesis on the left are the same you can combine them to create

    27 - 2n = 13  (its minus 2n because -n + -n = -2n so instead of writing    27+ -2n we just write 27- 2n cuz its the same thing) Okay so then you have to do the same thing to both sides so subtract 27 from both sides to get

    -2n = -14 (we know its minus 27 because you do opposite the sign and since 27 is positive we subtract it) So then to get rid of the -2 in front of the n we have to divide if from the n. and since we did it to the left we have to do it to the right so

    n= 7 (its a positive 7 because a negative number divided by another negative number equals a positive number. ) GOOD LUCK!!!

    P.S. To see if your right just put 7 in for n in the problem so

    (15-7) + (12-7) = ?

    8+5 = 13

    And since it equals up to 13 you know your right. :)

  15. (15- n) + (12- n) =13  *think- what plus what=13 -ex: 7+6 or 8+5

         8     +     5    = 13

             n= 7
