  1. Saline gargles up  to four times a day. 1/4 tsp table salt to 1/4 glass warm water. Gargle and spit out.

Between times, warm green or white tea with honey and a tiny dash of lemon or lime juice.

Avoid many of the OTC 'cough drops' they are primarily sugar and have minimal effect.

there is also an anesthetizing spray you can buy at most pharmacies. It does not cure, but simply anesthetizes the throat for a short period of time. Just be careful to only do it up to 3  - 4x a day, and don't bite your tongue.Swallow the spray and it also mnimizes cough reflex. but do not spray just before eating.

  2. At our house, we use no prescription meds for sore throat or anything. My son is allergic to antibiotics, so we had to learn about alternatives.  For sore throat, a great alternative is Grapefruit Seed Extract, found at your local health food store.  Use the liquid 10 drops in 6 oz of water.  Gargle and swallow.  You can chase it with a strongly flavored juice, since it is pretty strongly flavored itself.  My son found it helps if he brushes his teeth first - to kind of neutralize the flavor.

It doesn't take many doses to eliminate the infection. You should notice relief with the first use.  FYI - Grapefruit Seed Extract is also good battling yeast and ear infections.

  3. Sore Throat ~

Mix honey and chunnam(lime) and smear it over the depression below the Adam's apple on the throat.

  4. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Mix well and take 1 teaspoon.

  5. honey in tea.  drink it.

couple of salt water rinses in the day

  6. gargle with salt water. it works fast. it may taste gross but it works
