Question:

How do you spike in volleyball?

i can hit it over but how do you really spike?

  1. you really just run a tiny bit, then jump towards the ball, then pull your arm back a bit and then throw your arm forward and hit the volley ball


  2. It helps to get a good approach before you hit the ball because you will prob. slam it down more if you get on top of the ball

  3. To begin your spike, you must start your approach. The main approaches are 3-step, and 4-step, with 3-step being the more common one. Take a first step with your left foot, a quick step with your right, then a step to make ur left foot parallel to your right.

    Those are the basic steps, and thought it seems kinda complicated its really not...it just gets you from your outside position to an angled area next to the net so you can hit the set.

    While doing your approach, swing your arms back and then bring them the same way you swung them back, and when they are over your head, and you are in the air during your jump, bring down your hitting arm directly at the ball that is being set to you.

    And that's it (= try not to apply so much force onto the ball that you lose control over the path it travels. More power = less control. Maintain a balance so you'll be able to hit with strength and still control the ball so you will be able to direct it in whichever way you want.

  5. Ok. take one step with your left foot, then right then left. Now jump. then put both hands behind you( batman) then both hands 45 degrees above your head(super man) then put your right hand near your ear(robin hood/ wolverine) Then swoop your arm, and smack your hand down wards. Sry if that was kinda confusing. Just ask your PE teacher.

  6. you start behind the ten foot then , and then you do right left right if your a righty , and left right left in your a lefty , and then you jump and the ball should be infront of yer wrist - bottom of your palm .if you get high enough your spike should be unstoppable.

  7. well first you need an approach (kind of like right foot, left foot (while running), stop, then jump). then after you stop, you kind of wait until the ball is at its highest point and then you jump and smack/smash the ball down. *hit the ball with an open hand* the ball can curve or go somewhere it wasnt intended to go if you hit it with ur fist. also, you have more control with where you want the ball to go with an open hand.

  8. you kindof run up to the ball, but you use the method right foot, left foot, then right foot and you jump up and make sure you hit it with the palm of your hand with your fingers down so that you don't bend your fingers back!

  9. When you do your approach, you have to have the right rhythm: 4 step- right... left... right left. Sorry, I don't know the 3 step one.  When your hand goes up, be sure to extend your arms and try to get you hand as high as possible.  When you go to hit the ball, flick your wrist down.  But be sure not to cross the white line underneath the tape of the net.

  10. you take your hand and when the ball is comming you pretty much wack your wrist into it. well, its not your wrist exactly but its like the bottom of your hand but you have to do it hard and make sure your aiming good. youll get the aiming down after a while, its kinda hard to learn exactly how to hit it. but thats how ive always done it :) hope this helps!
