I have a school project and I want to make the pages of the newspaper look old. The last time I tried to stain the paper it turned green, and no, I didn't use green tea. Are the special brands of tea or coffee that could stain better, and how exactly do you do it?

  1. there are many options:

:  Get a square pan big enough to hold your paper.

2:  Make coffee and tea with no sugar or anything else. Mix those two.

3:  Pour the liquid into the pan.

4:  Lay paper flat in pan.

5:  Soak for about 1 minute.

6:  Remove, spread on a flat surface.

7:  Put in microwave for 10 minutes.

Done - effect: old, yellowish, wrinkled.

    --------------------------------------...

    1. Put lemon juice around the outside. (this goes browner when in the oven).

2.Make a cup of tea without milk or sugar. Use the tea bag and the tea to stain.

    3. Put in the oven for ten minutes.

    4. take out and burn the edges after damping down the middle part so it doesn't catch alight.

    5. Put in the oven again for five minutes

You now have an old document.

  2. You need to make a very strong tea (2 tea bags to 1 cup boiling water) and let the tea set for about an hour. Using a soft paint brush brush the paper with the tea and let dry. *Don't soak the paper

Repeat this until the paper is the desired color.

    Black pekoe tea is best.

Another way is to singe the edges of the paper. Using a candle and a parents supervision simply singe the edges (not evenly)

  3. If you're using actual newspaper, you'll probably have a hard go at it. Newspapers are made from delicate, recycled material, so the ink runs easily and the paper deteriorates fast. But if you make a copy, or a newspaper look-alike...

Don't worry about the brands-- brew the coffee really strong (after its brewed, pour it in again for a second go) and leave the paper in there for at least an hour. Remember that some papers absorb better than others-- try experimenting with different copy papers, construction paper, etc.

  4.   I had like the same thing in 6th grade, it was on mummies.  I used a sort of band-aid wrapping (I do not really know if it will work with paper..) And used a tea brand called Best Rose.  I dipped it in, but I think with paper you should use a little paint-brush, dip it in the tea, and stroke over it gently.  Good luck with your work!  I go back to school on Tuesday, unfortunetly =C
